A feature has recently come out that allows users to pin Instagram posts or Reels to their profile. It’s a feature that’s been introduced on other apps, so the concept of it might not be anything new to you.
Since it is a different platform, the process to get your posts pinned is a little different. We’ll explain all you need to know about pinning posts and some other things on Instagram.
How to Pin Instagram Posts
It’s no secret that people like having their best work be the first thing people see when they come across their profile. If you use Instagram often and post good content, then you probably have a few posts in mind that you might want to pin.
Instagram only allows you to pin up to three posts or Reels to your profile, so pick which posts you want to be pinned carefully!
Follow these steps to pin your first post:
- Open the Instagram app.
- Click your profile in the bottom right-hand corner.
- Find and click on the post you want to be pinned to your profile.
- Click the three dots in the upper right-hand corner of the post.
- Click “Pin to your profile.”
Easy, right? This post will now be shown first on your profile for everyone who comes across your profile to see. You’ll notice a white thumbtack in the top corner of the post, and yes, others will also be able to see that thumbtack. It’s Instagram’s way of showing you have a post pinned, so it’s no big deal.
How to Unpin Instagram Posts
The process to unpin an Instagram post is the same as pinning one. Just follow these steps:
- Open the Instagram app.
- Click your profile in the bottom right-hand corner.
- Find and click on the post you want to be unpinned from your profile.
- Click the three dots in the upper right-hand corner of the post.
- Click “Unpin from your profile.”
The post will no longer be pinned to your profile and will go back in the original order of when you posted it.
How to Pin Instagram Reel
Pinning Instagram Reels is the same process as pinning a post. Instagram only lets you pin up to three posts and Reels, so pick your best content to put forward.
Follow these steps to pin an Instagram Reel:
- Open the Instagram app.
- Click your profile in the bottom right-hand corner.
- Find and click on the Reel you want to be pinned to your profile.
- Click the three dots in the upper right-hand corner of the Reel.
- Click “Pin to your profile.”
How to Unpin Instagram Reel
Repeat the same process as you would for pinning an Instagram Reel to unpin a Reel.
- Open the Instagram app.
- Click your profile in the bottom right-hand corner.
- Find and click on the Reel you want to be unpinned from your profile.
- Click the three dots in the upper right-hand corner of the Reel.
- Click “Unpin from your profile.”
How to Pin Instagram Comments
While we’re explaining how to pin things on Instagram, here’s how to pin comments, too, if you were wondering:
- Open the Instagram app.
- Select the post you want to pin a comment on.
- Find the comment you want to pin.
- Swipe left on the comment, then click on the gray thumbtack icon.
The comments you pin will now appear at the top of your comment thread. Instagram allows you to pin up to three comments, so choose wisely!
The comments you choose to pin will also be shown on your post as people scroll past. This means that if there are comments that were posted before your pinned one, it won’t matter because your pinned comments take over.
How to Unpin Instagram Comments
You’ll use the same process for unpinning comments as you did for pinning comments. Here are the steps to take:
- Open the Instagram app.
- Select the post you want to unpin a comment on.
- Find the comment you want to unpin.
- Swipe left on the comment, then click on the gray thumbtack icon.
- Tap “Unpin comment.”
