Instagram decided to roll out a new feature in 2017 that allowed users to keep their favorite memories from their Stories active. Instagram Highlights is a tool you can use for displaying your past Stories on your profile, even after the 24-hour time frame is up.
Highlights on Instagram are Stories you can pin to your profile for an indefinite amount of time. If you use Instagram often, you’re probably aware that Stories disappear after 24 hours. Highlights allow anyone who comes across your profile to see those Stories, that is, only if you add them to a Highlight, of course.
How to Post Instagram Highlights
If you want to post an Instagram Highlight, you’ll first want to ensure that you’ve posted some Stories beforehand. Otherwise, you won’t have any content to put in the Highlight. Once you have a couple of Stories uploaded, you can follow these steps to create and post Instagram Highlights:
- Open the Instagram app.
- Click on your profile icon in the bottom right-hand corner.
- Under “Story highlights,” click the “+” in the circle.
- Select the Stories you want to be included in your Highlight.
- Click “Next.”
- Give your Highlight a name and edit the cover.
- Click “Add.”
How to Edit Instagram Highlights
If you want to edit your Instagram Highlight by either adding in more Stories or changing the name, the process is simple. Just follow these steps:
- Open the Instagram app.
- Click on your profile icon in the bottom right-hand corner.
- Find the Highlight you want to edit, then press and hold on to it.
- Click “Edit highlight.”
- Edit the cover, rename the highlight, or add more Stories to it, then press “Done.”
How to Delete Instagram Highlights
If you want to delete your Instagram Highlight, the process is pretty much the same as editing it. Here’s how:
- Open the Instagram app.
- Click on your profile icon in the bottom right-hand corner.
- Find the Highlight you want to edit, then press and hold on to it.
- Click “Delete highlight.”
- Click “Delete.”
This will then remove the Highlight from your profile and no one will be able to see it anymore.
How many Stories are allowed in an Instagram Highlight?
Instagram allows users to add up to 100 Stories or videos to each Highlight. Once you’ve reached the limit, Instagram will notify you asking if you want to delete some of the older Stories from the Highlight so you can add in the new ones.
Since there is no limit on how many Highlights you can have, you can always just make a new Highlight so you don’t have to get rid of any of your other Stories.
