Everyone knows that when using social media, acronyms that you might not be familiar with might appear every once in a while. If you’re a frequent scroller on Instagram, then you might have seen “NFS” pop up and wonder to yourself “What does that even mean?”

What Does NFS Mean on Instagram?

When you look up what NFS actually means, you’ll be faced with several different answers because it stands for several different things. In the Instagram sense, NFS stands for “No Filter Sunday,” which users will use when they post a picture on Sunday without a filter on it. 


NFS can also mean “Not Following Specified” which relates to a situation when you might be following someone, but they aren’t following you back. 

Another NFS meaning that you might run into is when it stands for “Not For Sale,” which relates to more of a business sense. 


What Does CFS Mean on Instagram?

Close Friends (CF) or Close Friends Stories (CFS) is an Instagram feature that allows users to select members to be a part of their private stories. Only those that are selected will be able to view any stories that the user posts.

Using CFS is a great way to limit how many people see what you’re sharing. If you don’t feel like having all 500 of your followers see something that you post, use CFS!

What Does TBT Mean on Instagram?

Throwback Thursday, or TBT, is a social media trend where users will post old pictures of themselves with the caption “#throwbackthursday,” of course. 

Although it isn’t used a lot anymore, it used to take over the internet every Thursday. This doesn’t mean that people don’t still use it, it’s just not as popular anymore. 


If you’re curious about the topic, try searching up “Throwback Thursday” on Instagram and chances are you’ll be pretty surprised.
